Old DB Using Append Query
Horace Conti

I have an old DB that has PayMethods fields such as PayPal, (CreditCard, Checks, Cash etc.) each as a field.  Your Developer course and my new DB has one FIELD as "PaymentMethod" and all of the different types of payments listed under that.  I need to use an Append Query to transfer data from the old DB to my new DB and then use a crosstab Query to list all of the different PymentMethods in Columbs like before.  I've been unsuccessful, is there a way as these two set-ups for FIELDS are different?  Any help here is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you all in advance   Horace Conti

Is the PaymentType it's only Table in the new db?

There are Two tables in the New DB, one has "Payment Amount", "Payment MethodID", "Payment Method", "LastName", etc..  The Second Table has "PaymentMethodID", and "PaymentMethod".   In  this second table "Payment Method is a Field holding all of the Payment types listed,(PayPal, VenMo, CreditCard, etc.  Since the set up between the old DB with Fields for each PayMethod, and the new DB for PayMethods are different I'm having trouble Appending the data correctly.  Is there a good way to do this other than by hand.  Thank you in advance for your help.  Horace Conti

Pull both tables into excel
Then do a vlookup on the original payment method to get the new id
Then you can import this back in

Or add the PaymentTypeID field to your current payment table and then use an update query to set it based on the text value.
