Recordset Error
Ahsan Zaman

Hi
I am following the video titled "How to Show What Record You're On and How Many Total Records There Are in Your Microsoft Access Form".

Everything works fine except when everytime I open the form, the counter says "1 of 1". The counter only updates when I move onto the next record. Upon closing the form and re-opening, I get the same "1 of 1".

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards

Hi Ahsan, that is because the RecordCount property doesn't indicate the correct count until all records have been accessed.  Records are accessed when they are displayed on the screen and/or when the user scrolls down the screen and loads additional records.  The only time RecordCount is sure to give you the correct count is when you move to the last record, either manually or via VBA.  Another way to get the total count is to use the Count() function, which actually counts records.  Make a textbox on your form with the control source =Count(*) and it will show the total records currently in the recordsource.

thank you, both Juan and Kevin for your tips. Specially for that extra insight into RecordCount. Both the solutions worked well!
