Report Selection Criteria

I am wanting to have a way to have robust sort and selection criteria entered at the time of running a report. My idea is to enter the criteria on a Form that will launch the Report passing it the criteria. I know how to pass the criteria to the Report, but I'm having trouble specifying the Record Source in the Report (I'm using Me.RecordSource = "Select...;" followed by Me.Requery in Sub Report_Open). Perhaps I need to have the Form set the Record Source for the Report using something like Me!ClassSummaryR.RecordSource = "SELECT...;". If so, the syntax is eluding me. As a side note, the Record Source needs to be either a Table or a Query if that matters. Any ideas?

Also, how would I go about printing the criteria in the Report Header?

I figured this out. acViewReport does not respect Me.Filter, Requery and such. It works fine for Preview and Print.

Also to clarify, the "robust sort and selection criteria" would be entered by a common User when running the Report (with the Navigation Pane and Ribbon Bar and such hidden).

Is it uncommon to have a front end that allows the User to enter sort and select criteria for Reports? It was certainly common in the industry back in my day.

Usually what you do in Access is you set up a form that has those selection criteria for the user and then the report gets the criteria from the form. See Filter Report
