ACCDE Errors

Agree with Richard on everything he has about about tracking down why a ACCDB works fine but won't compile.

There is one thing he hasn't mentioned and because he is a developer for many years and something I have done as  student and new developer that does cause a ACCDB to run fine but not compile into a ACCDE.

While developing I have a event most likely in a form with a Sub that I was going to use but decided there was a better alternate way and decided to keep the sub but commented all the code within the sub or had a sub with no code in it.

The above will cause a ACCDB to run fine but will not compile into a ACCDE

Ronald, thanks for the tip. Sorry it took me so long to get back to this, but I just tried to recreate it and I'm unable to get the results that you mentioned. I took a sub in a form, and commented out all the lines. It compiled and saved as an accde file just fine. So maybe there are more steps to it that you left out, or maybe this is an older version of Access where they fixed this problem. Let me know if there's something that I'm missing.

Hi Richard,

From memory as I haven't had this problem in well over a year.  The ACCDB compiles and runs until you attempt to click on your 1st button and the button doesn't execute.  The button itself isn't the problem.  As I stated earlier somewhere in your code the is  a sub most likely in a form (any form not just the form with the button just clicked) that has no executable code.

Mind you all buttons don't work.  Not just the 1st button you try.

Regards

Ron

PS All the tech Helps are great but feeling a little unloved as a developer.  Would love to see as a tech help or developer, how to of the immediate window.  As a example at some point in one of my projects due to limited space on my Apple Mac I moved some of the windows around and now have no idea how to get them back as the initial default settings.  Other than setting a break point and adding some variables to the watch list I have no idea how to get the best use when debugging.  Yes I could Utube but Richard as you say I get the way to teach

Regards
