When using an Access backend over a small network with up to 5 users with light traffic, which is preferred DAO or ADO? I'm currently using DAO and performance is great. Are there advantages of ADO over DAO

You use whatever the environment allows you to use.  DAO is mainly for the JET engine used by Access.  But a client-server environment like ASP doesn't support JET, so you can't use DAO, and have to use a supported model like ADO.  If you ever move from Access to ASP, you'll have to move from DAO to ADO, and likely have to rewrite your code.  Certain code syntax is similar between DAO and ADO, but it's not just about syntax.  Moving from a local environment like Access to a client-server environment involves a lot more design changes.  In my old job, I had an Access app that used DAO just for users in a local network (office LAN); but I also had a web app that used ASP and ADO for users anywhere on the Internet.  It was like designing two apps, because  different environments almost always involves drastically different designs.
