Fields in Report Title Bar
David McAfee

Does anybody know if you can't use fields in a report title bar? Will the caption accept code or an expression? For instance, I have a report that when I push the print button, it allows me to save the report and the title is whatever I have in the caption of the report properties. I would like it to save with certain field names automatically.

You can't do it directly in the Property Sheet. Use an event or in the button that opens the Report.

As an example, I used the On Load event of my Report:
Me.Caption = "Customer Report for " & FirstName & " " & LastName & " (ID: " & CustomerID & ")"

If you've never did any VBA programming before check out: Intro to VBA

Also: Concatenation

Yes and I altered that and it worked! This is great because now I can save my reports in pdf automatically with the correct file name!

This one is actually been on my list for a while to cover in a video. Someone else asked me how they can send a report with one click by email and in the Extended Cut I was going to show this so stay tuned... Even though you already know how to do it. LOL.

I did discover that the custom filename based on the caption didn't always work 100% of the time. Fix in my video (extended cut).
