this still asks me if I want to edit it and LeadSourceF pops up and allows be to edit it (is this a bug or I'm misunderstanding something)

Make sure List Items Edit Form is blank.

Richard left LeadSourceF in the List Items Edit Form while explaning himself that's what confused me.
thanks for clarifying that LeadsourceF will always bypass any restrictions.
