For both D18 lessons 4&5 the Total record count did not update when the add new or delete buttons were used, until the form was closed and reopened.  I assume the save btn could have a totalrec = dcount type statement added to fix that.  This would only matter if the statistics were being used to confirm the add or delete actual worked.   I will have to try it as homework.
