I would love to see ideas of how to clean up name fields that have all the different possibilities .  Mr. Mrs. Jr, middle initials, middle names business names mixed in . Im a Gold subscriber maybe you could do a tech help Video on this! Maybe you already have one!!

I'm not sure Richard covered this explicitly but you have the tools to do the job.
I see that you have most of the Expert courses so it may be time for a review.
Expert 14 covered the scrubbing of data.  Expert 25 covers the String Functions more in depth.

First I would start out with creating a table to hold the various parts.  Before you create a bunch of tables check out the Helper Data video.  That is a great way to store a bunch of small tables in one.

Then using a plain old select query try out the various functions to see what the results would be.  Once you are happy with how things are working in the Select Query you can change it to an Update Query.

Give it a shot and see what you come up with.  If you hit a wall come on back and we'll help out.  You will learn a lot more by applying what you are learning than if we just give you an answer.

BTW - first things first.  Before you do anything BACKUP your data! (You are any way RIGHT?) but do it again.  Always easier to go back to a known good db if you goof.

Also check out the Split Part Numbers . Very similar concept.

Thanks, Scott.  I bet I have more experience doing data cleanup than you and RR combined!  = Not saying I'm better at it, lol - but I made a living doing data conversions from 1995-2006 using MS A.  I used the Rhinocerous approach.  If a tree is in my way, I knock it over.  I'm looking to learn more elegant ways, lol LOL.  I picked up one or two ideas from the lessons.  I'll watch Helper Data and Split Part videos - thanks for those tips.  (Already using Helper Data because I started watching ABCD lessons)
