TempVars vs Global Var

Hey guys -

Third time is a charm?!

I've tried posting 2 times before and it just disappeared.
Anyway...

This weekend I went back through Dev 43.  I've been messing with TempVars a bit and not quite understanding how either is treated in a multi user environment.  Are they just local to that front end or is it across the application?

I'm not even sure how to test it to figure out by myself.  I do all of my development on my machine then upload to the server.

Thx!  Scott

I purcharsed the Dev 43 yesterday to learn the Tempvars for the purpose, after watching, in fact also still have confused, you know i am learner, and after learnting that, i feel i think i still need more things to understand competely, but don't know where i didn't understand. by the way for this developer, it only has about 22mintes for new knowlege, other are free except the appending, it's not valuable for me, haha. hope Mr. Richard make more videos about tempvars, because Scott has the confusions, i can't believe that, haha

Just making my mandatory appearance because somebody said tempvars ;).

Tempvars are local though, if you changed a tempvar on your machine, it wouldn't change that tempvar on someone elses machine.

I figured you might be by Adam. I knew TV would draw you out.

So if what you say is the case, that could be advantageous and dis advantageous depending on the circumstance.
If I wanted something to be truly available for everyone what is the proper method?

I don't think there is any variable that would be global to multi users, since every variable I can think of runs on the front end, and everyone has a unique front end, it would have to be something that ran on the backend that they all link to I would think. About all that is coming to mind now would be a table to store the value, then currentdb.execute update it everytime it had to change, then other machines could see that value and do whatever they needed to based on that.
