Hi, I just finished expert 7 and am starting expert 8. When is the time favorable to purchase the seminar of SQlL. What do you think is the best time in module that I include the SQL.  El Ludwig

The seminar stands alone so you can watch it at any time.

Yes, but that's not my question. I feel like I'll have to wait until I'm a bit more advanced to start with SQL. in which module do you (Richard) think that the modules start with more SQL and that I then go through the SQL seminar before I continue.

The short answer - Now would be a good time to start.  Go watch the SQL with Access TechHelp videos if you haven't already.

The answer Richard gave you was a good one.  Learning SQL and learning Access go side by side.  There isn't a prerequisite course that you need prior to starting to learn SQL.

I would say that once you start using Select Queries and have an understanding of those, the time is right for the SQL Seminar 1.
Once you start using the Action Queries (Append, Update, Delete) - The SQL Seminar 2 is a good second step.

SQL Seminar 3, in my opinion, is good to know, but optional.  To be honest I very rarely use that material.  Your needs may differ from mine.

Hi Scott, thanks in advance for the explanation of the SQL seminar. Now I have a clearer picture of it. Just to mention that you are doing a wonderful job. The structure of the modules is very instructive and at a good pace. We're going to keep going. Winter is coming and then we have more time.

Ludwig I'm happy that helped.  Thank you for the compliment but it is Richard that is doing the work.
I just help out steering people in the right direction when there are additional questions.

ok, big thumbs up to Richard then. a question to Richard, how good is your son in Access in the meantime, does he match you and will he follow up on your Learning Zone in the future.

Sorry if my previous answer was brief. Sometimes I read the forums and reply on my phone, and I'm not as descriptive as I should be. But the answer Scott gave was a very good one. And I might record the videos, but Scott and the rest of the moderators are the ones who do 90% of the heavy lifting here in the forums for me, so I couldn't do this without them. As far as my son goes, at the time I recorded that video, he was learning Access. However, he has since decided that being a computer nerd isn't his thing, and he's now a plumber, which is an awesome skill to have and a good trade. He's making a good living. His interest in computers ends with gaming. LOL.
