We use Whatdapp in preference to Skype to have family chats with our son and his family in Honk Kong.
Skype became very patchy particularly on sound so we switched and it is much better with Whatasapp.
This is a great way to keep in touch both visually and sound with folks that are 6000 miles away. It's as if they were in the next room. I highly recommend it.
