Word mail merge from Access

Hi, I have created a Query (based on a couple tables), this Query contains a autonumber (Product ID). There is also a Product Form (has Product ID on it). the Query can be opened from the Product Form, but wondering if there is a way to mail merge Query data to Word file, ideally with single press of a button.

Tried below methods but failed
- Tried clicking on the mail merge ribbon in Access, after open the Query from Product Form, but that did not work.
- Open the word file directly did not work with Query setting Product ID = Form! Product ID. However if Query does not set Product ID = Form! ProductID, the word mail merge works fine with multiple files showing up as Query has multiple records.

Ultimate Goal: populate a word doc with data from one specific record in the Query

Desperately need help from experts, thank you!!!

Hi Zoe,

Unless you're doing something very sophisticated in Word, it's far easier to generate the letter or document that you want and merge it with your query completely within Access. I do that with a couple of my databases. Watch this video for ideas:

I agree with Sami. SOOOOO much easier to do everything in Access. The only way I mail merge to Word is if I then have to send the document on to someone else to edit who doesn't have Access.

hi Sami and Richard, thank you both for the advice. Just finished watching the video, need to go back and rethink the process on the doc generation. thank you for the support!!
