Hi Richard. Today I have a problem never seen since I purchased the updater. When I push update the last part after restarting the access few times my main menu form loads but the Access Updater form is in the background and doesn't close. And the Access is working very slow and I can't shut down. I have to go to control alt delete to shut down. Please Help! I submit image! The users have the same problem.

Is this happening consistently? The only time this happened with me (I use it all the time) was after I have a problem with the code. It was fixed when I compiled the code and removed the bad code. it was a procedure with no code in it like this:

Private sub XXX_click ()

End Sub

Did you compact/repair as well? Restart? All the normal stuff in Troubleshooter?

The compact and repair takes very long time-I stopped it but I can save to ACCDE file.

OK. I did compact and repair and worked this time.

OK I tried every thing. This started to happen today sometime after 12 o'clock (European time). It worked fine until then.
This is what I did:
- Testing different machines
- Compact and repair
- Reboot
- Convert to ACCDE and worked
- Testing a backup from 2 days ago.
Help needed!

Are you able to try it from the machine that the back end is hosted on? You say things are going very slow for everyone, that makes me want to consider networking issues.

Does the database work at all as far as pulling in data and stuff? Just very slow? Or is it frozen up?

Also have you had any windows or office updates happen during this time?

Definitely sounds like a wider issue. Doubtful that it's the Updater database unless you've made modifications to it. Sounds to me like you have other system/network problems going on there. Run down the Troubleshooter for sure.

I found the problem. My BackEnd file in the Server folder opened as Read Only of some reason. I found the problem when I tried to update the database and I couldn't. So I made another new Server folder with new BackEnd file from my backup and now it works again.

Richard one question. I would like to do some modifications to the access updater. Like closing the navigation pane or the toolbar by code. Is that OK?

Sure... it's your copy. You can modify it however you want for your own purposes. You're just not allowed to distribute/sell it to someone else, and of course I can't guarantee support for any changes you make. But knock yourself out. They're your Legos. :)
