Is there a list containing the Lessons I have watched including TechHelp and Extended Cuts?

Views might help.

I know a few people have created dbs to track what they've seen.
Was that you Kevin and @Sammi?

I built a database that stores details of each Tech Help video but it doesn't track which ones I've watched (I usually watch them as they are released). I believe Sami built an Excel spreadsheet to track which Tech Help videos he had watch and sorted them in chronological order.

My database will search the Title, Summary and Notes fields to make finding the video you are looking for easier and also includes a button to navigate to that video on the website.

Jerry might have a tool they've built too: Web scrapping a link

Paul,

I downloaded the list in chronological order to Excel, which will maintain the link to the videos. I added a checkbox for viewed and another for the extended cut.

Just cut and paste from the website to excel
Then, over a period of 7 months, I watched them all.

You think they will give you a badge for doing that. lol

Well, this comes down to website usability, which is something I'm doing my best to try to improve. What can I do for all of you guys to make your viewing more pleasurable on the website? Is there some kind of a list I could put together of what classes you haven't finished? Would it be helpful to see that in the My Courses list?

It would be moderately difficult to keep track of every video that you've watched on a course page, but I could at least put a check mark or something next to the class if you viewed that page at all. That would at least tell you the last class that you left off on. Do you think that would help?

I think a way to mark a course as watched instead of it being automatic might be better.

I am happy with either Richard or Alex's ideas

Just viewing a page doesn't guarantee you've watched the video, especially if there are multiple videos on it.

I could trigger it on the review video... assuming that if they've watched the review video, they're done... but yeah, you're right... that still doesn't mean they've watched the whole thing, and a lot of people don't watch the review video. I think "mark this class as done" might be the best option.

You could do automatic marking as "watched" with the option to "Mark as un-watched"  or it could be a manual selection with a prompt that pops up automatically when exiting the lesson page.  Some kind of semi-automatic function may help new students utilize it while they are learning the website.

Yeah, one of the features I like about sites like Netflix and Hulu is they have that "continue where you left off..." row of videos. So if you're watching a show it will let you know you last watched S2 E4 and you can continue to E5. That's what I was going for with the Views page, but I don't know if enough people know about it. Maybe I should make it a little more "in your face." Maybe a message bar when you log on showing the last few videos you watched?

I added this to the My Courses page - it's the last (up to) 4 videos you've watched. It pulls from the AUTO Bookmark and the last 3 videos viewed from the Views page (with video number, in the case of a page with multiple videos). Does this help?

OK, I also added another requested enhancement today... from now on, any videos you've watched from a particular class should remain BOLDED the next time you return to that page...

When I get some more time, I plan on adding Alex's idea where you can manually mark a class as completed so it shows up that way in your course listing. Coming soon...

Alex might be "right" or "wrong".  Meaning I don't watch my classes on the website.  I download the material to which ever computer I am working with.  For example today I will be in the middle on nowhere with no internet while my wife is at an appointment.  But will watch the videos while she does her thing.  It's not the classes videos I'm "worried" over it's the Tech Help ones.  Which reminds me I still have a lot to rewatch.

That's what the Views page is for. :)

I know this is not video related but it's UI related.
I often find solutions in the forum.
I would love a way to tag/flag/save an entire post, or a single comment from a post in the forum to a "favorites" list.
I recently started saving references in a notes app for items I don't use very often so I don't have to spend time searching the next time I need it. It would be nice to be able to come here, go straight to a list, and find it quickly.

....except I'd probably end up saving the entire website, lol!

I use bookmarks on the videos, very helpful.
Where can I find a list of the forum comments I've liked? I can not find it.

Go to TechHelp on the menu. Then click on Title. This will give you a full listing of all the videos. Select the entire list, copy, and paste into Excel. Then you can sort chronologically if you want.
