Releasing Tempvars

Isn't it best practices to release the Tempvars at the end of the function when you are done with there values?

Unlike Recordsets where you can store entire tables in memory, Tempvars can only store one item. The amount of memory used is minuscule in today's computers.

Love to hear what Richard has to say about this.

Yeah, in a perfect database you should destroy TempVars when you're done with them, but like Sami mentioned the amount of memory that they use as minuscule and if you're only using a couple of them I really wouldn't worry about it. They can stick around in memory until the end of the database's lifetime.

But if you're really concerned with memory or if you're using a ton of them then you can use:

TempVars.Remove "MyTempVar"

to remove a single TempVar, or you can use:

TempVars.RemoveAll

to clear all of them. Just don't let Adam know that you cleared all of them cuz he'll get upset.

Really good question though. I'll add this to a future Quick Queries video.
