Update with lock violations
Karl Mike Markalous

2 years ago
Hello from Sweden

UpdFieldsSQL = "Update planorderhourst set " & _
            "  Material = '" & RSin!Material & "', MaterialB = " & RSin!MaterialB & _
            "  Folge = 9 " & _
            " where OrderId = " & RSin!OrderID & " and personid = " & RSin!PersonID & "
                   and Monat <> " & RSin!Monat & ";"

This update runs smoothly in most cases, however in cases it brings lock-violation.

I have prepared more describing information but I can't find a place where I can send
a PDF or something like that.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hopefully I did this right.
I checked for text fields but all of them have a fixed length, so the problem isn't there.
I ran it with just the field 'Folge' but it didn't work either.

When a form is being edited by the user, the form is "locked" until the user saves the data.  Any other attempt to edit the data, such as with an action query, will cause the "lock violation" error.  This is a common cause of the error.

Hi Karl,

Capitalizing SQL keywords will make your code easier to read. Words like SELECT, SET, INSERT INTO, WHERE should be capitalized because it's needed for reasons of readability.
