Big button issue

I am following along with the video and am having an issue with this line of code on the form open:
Me.Controls("Button" & X).Caption = rs!ButtonCaption

I have started over 3 times and can't figure out this issue. Please advise what I might be missing.

I am creating the big button using a restaurant idea. This line of code throughs a debug error and when  I hover over the ButtonCaption part on the BigButtonF it says it is null but each button is labelled correctly. It supposed to show each sandwich when you click the select button. The code for the select button is:
    TempVars("ButtonRecordSource") = "SELECT SandwichID as ID, Sandwich as ButtonCaption " & _
        "FROM SandwichT ORDER BY Sandwich"
I have tried from scratch three different times and get the same debug error.
