The video (which is a very good tip) isn't really about user entry.  It's about passing an argument to a function in VBA.  An argument is what a function uses internally.  The user may not even need to know what that is.  To do what you described, you may put a default date of today's date (=Date()) on the property sheet of a textbox, for instance.

Without Parameter: Mydate

With Parameter: Mydate DateField

if it is a function Then

Without Parameter: Mydate ()

With Parameter: Mydate (DateField)
