Key Down Why
John Schreiber

The KeyDown Tech Video showed how to use the Key Down Event to return Key Codes. But it never gave a reason we would need to do this. Is there an example or two that could explain the purpose of doing this?

Is the Control A video supposed to be the one that explains the use of Key down?  Am I missing something?

Yes it is, at about 6:50 of that video the keydown event is used to create the functionality.

Yeah, that's just one use case. There's a lot more you can do with it. But someone asked me about that specific case using Ctrl+A to select all the text in a text box, and I realized I hadn't done a good TechHelp video on KeyDown or KeyPress. So I had to do those first. But I've covered these KeyPress and KeyDown events in lots of other videos.

Thanks Richard, I watched the next Video, and I understand the uses now. Or at least one of the uses - LOL

I watched this one late last night, hoping it would put me to sleep.  It didn't!!!! Went to ChatGpt and asked for a practical use of Key Down... and all I got was something close to the video.  Finally the light bulb clicked just before I fell asleep.
