Access DevCon By Richard Rost ![]() ![]() Access Conference with Tips, Tools, & Expert Sessions I want to let you know about an upcoming event that every Microsoft Access developer should have on their calendar: Access DevCon Vienna 2025. It's taking place on April 10th and 11th. Now yes, the event is based in beautiful Vienna, Austria, and one of these years I swear I'll make the trip, but the great thing is, you can attend it from anywhere in the world. I've joined in virtually a few times before, and it's always been packed with great sessions and helpful insights from top Access developers across the globe. You'll hear directly from the Access team at Microsoft with updates on high-res monitor support and version control integration with GitHub. There'll be a Q&A too, so get your questions ready. Karl Donaubauer will give his always-insightful community update with feature rundowns, stats, and a developer's-eye view of what's new in the Access world. Hey Karl - haven't seen an episode of Access News lately. What's up with that? Maria Barnes will be showing how to use the Microsoft Graph API with VBA. That's going to be more important than ever as the new Outlook continues to roll out and the old COM model becomes less reliable. Ynte Jan Kuindersma will show us how to use Power Automate with Access, which is another great way to work around Outlook changes and automate tasks. One of the most entertaining sessions promises to be the version control showdown between Philipp Stiefel and Adam Waller. They're comparing their tools. Friendly rivalry, but a must-watch if you've ever wanted to get serious about version control. Colin Riddington has a two-parter this year. First, he's showing off the new modern charts in Access, finally with solid VBA support. Then he's got a session on tools for developers, including his Database Analyzer Pro and a few handy free apps. There's also John Mallinson demonstrating his VBE_Extras Add-In, basically making the VBA editor actually feel like a modern IDE. Mike Wolfe will be covering twinBASIC 1.0, which could be a game-changer for Access developers, and sharing how AI tools are becoming your next best coding companion. And if you're looking to grow your Access consulting business, Juan Soto from IT Impact - one of my Diamond Sponsors - has a session packed with proven sales strategies, LinkedIn tips, automation with Zapier, and even how to close deals more effectively. There's a lot more, but those are just a few highlights. Two days of non-stop knowledge sharing, real-world solutions, and a chance to connect with fellow developers. Plus if you can't access the live sessions, you can download the videos to watch them later (which is what I've done a few times in years past). You can register now, and if you're not ready to commit yet, you can at least sign up for updates. Don't miss this one. Hope to see you there. Links
