New Access Seminar: Web Data
By Richard Rost   Richard Rost on LinkedIn Email Richard Rost   17 years ago

My brand new Access Web Data Sync Seminar is FINISHED.

This seminar covers integrating your Microsoft Access database and your Web Site. You will learn how to use Access to feed your Web Site with data and use Access to read information from the Web.

This seminar has three main goals. You will learn how to:

1. Use Access to pull information off of Web pages
2. Collect data on your Web site and download it into Access
3. Update your Web site with data from your Access database

Use your Access database to pull information down from the Web: weather stats, stock quotes, sports scores, whatever you want.

Collect user data from your Web site and download into your Access database: names, email addresses, personal info, etc.

Use your Access database to populate data (and even whole pages) on your Web site. Use it to maintain complete control of your site, or just update information such as your price lists or product inventory.

For complete details on this seminar (and even a video showing you everything it covers)

Q: What are the software requirements for this seminar?

A: I use Access 2007, but the lessons are valid for 2000 and 2003 as well. I'll show you the differences (minor).

I use Expression Web 1.0 for my Web editor, but FrontPage 2000 and 2003 work just fine too. Other web editors will work, but I recommend Expression or FrontPage.

The Web SERVER needs to have ASP and FrontPage Server Extensions, which most Microsoft servers have running.

As far as the END USER, their Web Browser doesn't matter. Everything that goes on on the Web site happens on the server (ASP code, etc.)

I have tested this on a machine running Internet Explorer 5.0 and 7.0, as well as FireFox 3.0.

Does that answer your question?
