Record Count

I have an issue that I am hoping someone can assist me with.

I created the unbound combobox text from the extended cut.  When I open the form the combobox text is blank.  I select the down arrow and the text appears.  I select the option I want -- the count feature works -- but the text in the combo box is now blank again.

I know this is probably something simple, but after googling potential troubleshooting issues, I still can't figure it out.  I have tried deleting everything and building from scratch while watching Richard's video but I have the same issue with disappearing text.

Help!

Thanks in advance for your time :D

I had this issue once, and it was caused by code in the On Click event to blank the combo box.

So, after watching enough of Richard's videos, I've gotten to a point where, not only do I want to have the end result, but I want to know WHY it wasn't working as expected to begin with, and it's entertaining to try to figure out work arounds to some of the quirks in Access.

Using the download copy from the video, I was able to reproduce the issue Chandra was having, i.e. You select a state, it updates the count, then the state disappears from the combo box - even though you can open the dropdown and select any state (including the current one) but it will still be blank when the dropdown closes.

In the way that I was able to re-create it was to load the form, switch to design view, then back to form view. Then after selecting the state, the count would update but the state would disappear from the visible part of the combobox.

I think it's a bug in access but I did find a work around for this scenario - I simply moved the code from the "AfterUpdate" event to the "BeforeUpdate" event in the combo box.
