38 Wont Open Properly

I don't use the AI function, could this be the cause.  I can only open this download by holding the Shift Key.  Without doing this it loads, it's there and open on the task bar, but clicking on it, it just dissapears. So, sorry no screen snip!

??

Mike, I don't understand what you mean. You're saying the database for Fitness38 won't download and open properly?

The AI function shouldn't matter, as long as you don't click that button. And if you do, it just won't work because you don't have an API key.

I just tested it by re-downloading the file onto my system, and it worked fine for me. So maybe you just got a corrupted download. Try downloading it again.

Thanks for replying, it downloads ok.  I copy it to the directory with previous versions, then when I open it, it appears briefly then disappears.  When I hoven over the Access in the start bar at the bottom of the screen I see the mini version of the access app but clicking on it doesn't open it.  If I click on it in the directory while holding the shift key it opens ok. Obviously something my end, weird!!

You know what I just realized? 38 is the first version that has the window positioning code in it. So open it up by holding down the Shift key and then delete the entries in the settings table to position the window. It's basically trying to open it for my screen, which if you don't have a second monitor, then that won't work. I should probably update that file and delete those settings.

Thanks Richard, copied the download to another directory and then it opened fine.  Saved it as Fitness38New to the directory with the other downloads,  opened it and again it disappeared.  Some local problem, obviously

It opens for a split second then disappears creating a .laccdb file in the directory.  Weird!

Fixed by Alt + Space and then Maximise, for some reason it was shrinking the screen.  All good!

Yeah, just delete the setting table out of that database, and it should work fine. You'll have to hold the shift key down to open it, and then you should be able to delete that table. Close and restart the database, and it should open okay. I'm doing an extended cut for it right now that explains everything.

I just recorded and posted an extended cut for Fitness 39 that explains the problem and has a fix. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
