I'm new to recordsets but I think I know why compact & repair worked. If you "reserve a bit of memory" for the recordset and because if that you have to close it and eliminate it at the end of your code, then if the code breaks, you haven't closed it, or eliminated it. I suppose compact & repair sorts the floating bits out for you. Is that possible?
