Transportation Programs Analyst NYC

Sr. Transportation Programs Analyst - Port Authority of NY & NJ is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. This position focuses on transportation program analysis, reporting, and operational support across major infrastructure projects. Microsoft Access is listed among the required technical skills, along with Excel and other data tools.

What the role entails: Analyzing transportation program data, preparing reports, tracking project performance, and supporting decision-making for large-scale infrastructure initiatives. The role likely involves working with datasets across multiple systems, possibly using Access to manage or report on structured data alongside heavy Excel usage.

About the Port Authority: The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a major government agency that manages critical infrastructure including airports, bridges, tunnels, and transit systems in the region. They handle massive amounts of operational and financial data to support these systems.

Rick's take: This is one of those "Access is in the toolbox" jobs, not the main tool. You will probably not be building full Access applications here, but you may use Access for managing datasets, running queries, or supporting reporting workflows. If you already have strong Access skills plus Excel and some data analysis experience, it could be a nice fit. For my students looking specifically for Access development work, this is more of a secondary-use role. Still, it is another example of Access showing up in real-world enterprise environments, especially in government and infrastructure.
