Expert Lesson 13 - L1 Open Report Where Condition
Nicholas Lamicella

The following is in the embedded Marco for the WHERE condition
[Order Date]>=[Begin Date] And [OrderDate]<=[End Date]

In Expert Lesson thirteen – Open Report Where Condition the lesson enters Begin as 7/1 and End Date as 8/1 and retrieves all the orders for July. I essentially retrieve a blank report.
However when I enter date dates as 2013-07-01 and 2013-80-01 I retrieve the reports for July. I have not discovered why I can not get the same results as the lesson. Can any one enlighten me?

Assuming there's just a typo in your post, I think you mean 2013-08-01, not 2013-80-01. :) If you actually typed 80 for the month, Access definitely isn't going to like that.

It could also be a date formatting issue. I recorded this lesson years before I started using ISO date formatting everywhere, so double-check exactly how the dates are being entered and interpreted on your system.

I also noticed another possible typo in your criteria. One reference is [Order Date] and the other is [OrderDate]. One has a space and one doesn't. In Access, field names have to match exactly, so little things like that absolutely matter.

If you're still stuck, post a couple screenshots of:
- the table field names
- the query/report criteria
- the exact form where you're entering the dates

Screenshots are always helpful because sometimes what gets typed into the forum post isn't exactly what's in the actual code or property sheet. Tiny details like an extra space, a missing bracket, or one wrong digit can completely change the results. Humans can usually infer what you meant. Computers cannot. :)

Thank you for pointing out my errors. That was very sloppy of me. I will make the correction and try again. I have yet o be successful in trying to post screnes and/or queries to provide context for my problem. Is there something I can read to learn this skill?
