Name Autocorrect Left On

Totally understand your point of view and can confidently say it is probably the better path considering your experience over mine. Personally, I think if you know both sides of the argument make your own decision and live with whatever consequence there is. I leave it on because I do like the dependency pane for quick reference on what my objects are referencing BUT I still do your method of going through things and checking names everywhere if I rename something. My suggestion would be to turn off the PERFORM Name AutoCorrect but leave TRACK on (just know it isn't 100% of the picture). I still love seeing these types of explanatory tech helps so I can better understand WHY you have your methods. The more you know the better you'll be.

The NameAutoCorrect feature reminds me of Auto-Calibration, in my field, on control valves.  In the end, Auto-Calibration doesn't ensure that the valve is actually fully opened or fully closed.  It only redefines the signal that represents fully open and fully closed positions.

The manufacturers usually make it a prominent blue or yellow button inside a valve controller.  It is simply irresistible for inexperienced instrument technicians.  When they use it improperly, they walk away thinking they fixed something.  Unfortunately, they now have two problems, the valve not going fully closed AND the calibration being wrong.

Sometimes the convenience of a feature is outweighed by the confusion that it creates.  Having more work and knowing what to do is better than less work but not knowing what to do.

I guess the number one takeaway that I want people to get is that Name AutoCorrect seems like it might be fixing the problem, when it might only fix some of the problem. As long as you're aware of that, then there isn't a problem.
