Date Picker

I am in level 4 of the beginner course. In lesson 2, the field properties are discussed, and a brief mention is made of the date picker option. A comment about that from my personal experience.

When completing forms online the date picker object often comes up. When it opens, it opens to the current date. The issue I have is to input an actual birthdate. It does not allow to put in the date of birth, but it becomes necessary to scroll backward through months and years to get to the actual birthdate. This is a complete waste of time and very tedious. It can require scrolling back through 40, 50 or 60 ears of 12 months each year to get back to the actual birthdate. My birth year is 1950 so 70 years times 12 months can take several minutes. I understand that the date picker helps make date selection easier for the end user, but you may wish to caution your students on the use of this feature. It is not always a step or time saver.

Also, I know my date of birth so there should be a way to enter the date even though the date picker is displayed.

Absolutely. I despise that too. It's almost as much of a pain for me, having been born in 1972. However, with Access, the date picker is optional. You can still type in a date. With web pages, you sometimes can't.

This thread is now CLOSED. If you wish to comment, start a NEW discussion in Access Beginner 4.
