DLookup a Form Field

Can I use DLookUP to get a value I entered in a form? This is what I entered in an unbound box in my report.
=DLookUp("StartDate","ReportsF") ,
Where the StartDate is the name of my unbound field in my PeportxF.
I get an #Error for my response.

DLookup is used to get / find a value from a "domain" (Table or Query) thus the D. DLookup What you are looking for is Value From a Form
