That is exactly how you do it. You have to hold the shift key down as you're opening the DATABASE, not Access itself. So if you're opening the database from a direct shortcut, hold shift then. Otherwise, if you're opening Access first and then picking your database from the file list inside of Access, that's when you do it.

You can override this setting so that the shift key CANT be disabled, but that involves some programming. I cover it in my Security Seminar.

Thanks for that.  For some reason, it wasn't working.  (I'm using access on a remote server and that may have something to do with the issue).  When I hold shift and open the shortcut to that data base, it doesn't work.  But if I open Access and then hold shift when opening the specific file, it works.  I'm not sure why, but I'll use that solution for now.  Thanks.
