Sales Tax

Hello!
I am creating a simple database based on your invoicing video. Is there a way to make a query that calculates sales tax for only people with addresses in a certain state? Or to have a form display if Sales Tax should be applied to certain orders and then calculate it for me? For example, if the item is being shipped out of state then there is no sales tax. Or if certain items are sold there is no sales tax. Please Help!

Thank you!

To expand a little on Juan's comment take a look at the Query Criteria video.  Covered more in depth starting in Access Beginner 5

Taxes are a tricky critters.  Richard covers it in many different places throughout the courses.  If you go to the Access Index and do a search (CTRL-F) for Taxable you can find the courses and videos where that subject is covered.

Turner, sales tax can be very tricky. I start covering it in Access Expert 8, but remember that class is based on all the ones that come before it, and it continues in Expert 9 and several further classes. So I'd recommend starting with the Beginner lessons and working your way up.

I do have it on my TechHelp list to do a short video on Sales Tax, but there's a lot to it, and I can't promise how soon I'll get to that.

This thread is now CLOSED. If you wish to comment, start a NEW discussion in Invoicing.
