Problem Sending Email
Steve Garrison

I have a field named CALL in my record source table.  If I try to use it in an Email, I get a syntax error when trying to compile. If I replace the field name "CALL" with "FN," another field name in my record source table all works fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

MS Article: Call statement

In other words, to clarify Alex's link, CALL is a reserved word that "calls" a procedure.  You should change that fields name just so you don't run into issues in the future.

Thanks Guys!  I was thinking that CALL must be a reserved word, but when I Googled "Reserved words for Microsoft Access" that was not in the list!  So searching Google isn't always the definitive answer.

This is a database for an Amateur Radio Club.  CALL is just short for Call Sign. The field name was setup years ago before i began delving into Richard's lessons and videos.  I have quite a few queries and reports that will break if I change the field name that I'm hesitant to make the change.

Thanks Alex and Scott for clarifying this issue for me

It's odd it's not listed in the Glossary: Reserved Words

It is refreshing that someone with way more experience than I have found this odd as well.  I don't feel like a fool for asking the question in the first place now.

If it is a field that has been ingrained into your db and not easy to change you might get by with using the brackets to qualify it as a field - [CALL] or possibly YourTableName.[Call]

The people that built mine forever ago used Date all over the place.  Talk about a pain!
