I noted that even with an encrypted file, navigation pane hidden, my users still can get to the navigation pane with the F11 key. I have not seen anything in your videos on this. Is there a way to block this way of getting to the navigation pane.

Hi Robert, I just tested this on an ACCDE file, and sure enough, the Navigation pane opened. The real danger is the tables. I was able to get into the tables and manipulate data. Forms, Reports, macros, and Modules were protected. This is truly worrying. I hope Richard will have a solution for us.

You can turn off F11 (and other keys) in File -> Options -> Current Database, where you can uncheck "Use Access Special Keys." Unchecking the box will disable: F11: Open or close navigation pane Ctrl-G: Open VBA editor and immediate window Ctrl-Break: Pause VBA execution

Yes and there's VBA code which can completely disable it too. I cover all of these options in my Security Seminar. Like I said in the TechHelp videos, these are "good enough" option to hide stuff from "most users." A determined or knowledgeable Access user will know how to get around them.
