Richard, I have been getting a lot of help from your videos as I build a DB for my partner. The invoice format is "24-0001" currently as a short text in the tables. My question is do you have any info on how a have my invoice number be the current year as "YY", a dash, then a number of 4 digits as "0001". using a number field. I have tried to do a query join using two fields Date+Number "INVOICE# [INVOICEYEAR] & "-" & [INVOICENUMBER]"

show the actual query in design view where you are concatenating this field.

You might start with Sequential Numbers.

Matt's got it. Use the technique in the Sequential Numbers video to generate the last 4 digits, then once you have that just concatenate it with Year(Date()) and you're all set.
