Using the following code:

Dim oApp As Outlook.Application
    Dim oNS As Outlook.NameSpace
    Dim oInbox As Outlook.MAPIFolder
    Dim oCompleted As Outlook.MAPIFolder

Is that code directly from the course, or did you modify it? It's been several years since I recorded that class, so I don't remember. Do you have any mail items actually in your inbox?

The code is from the course.  I did get several records into the IncomingT table, but my Outlook inbox (via Gmail) has over 9,000 emails.  It seems to limit the number of records I can retrieve and now will not add any new records to the table.  I get the type mismatch error where the oMailItem is now null.

I have been following the seminar and did the exercice along with the lessons.

In lesson 12, I have setup the Gmail SMTP configuration as explained on the video, except when I try to send the e-mail I get an error "The transport failed to connect to the server" Read More...

You have to make sure two-factor authentication is off. Make sure your ports are correct. There's not much more I can tell you. As long as you followed the steps from the seminar exactly, it should work. Is your password correct? Check all of your spelling. Without seeing your database, it's impossible for me to tell what's wrong. Does the sample database work?

This is usually caused if you have 2-factor authentication turned on for your Gmail account. You have to turn it off.

In the years since I finished this Seminar, I've spent some additional time working with Outlook. I hate it. For basic users it's just fine, but for any kind of serious integration with the rest of the Office suite, or even working with IMAP and Gmail, it's a pain. Read More...

I've actually been testing some options using Gmail and Outlook. I've got it working OK now, but I still need to do some more testing. The problem is that I was trying to sync Outlook to my original Gmail account that I've had for YEARS and there are TONS of emails in the Sent Items and Archive and I don't want to lose them. Even when I tell Outlook NOT to sync those folders with IMAP, it still locks up. So, I created a brand new Gmail account, and it's working just fine. So... stay tuned folks because this will be in lesson somewhere. I'm successfully pulling email in from Gmail to Access via Outlook.

Hi Arabi. I just checked and the page is still there, but due to a quirk in the way I programmed it (years ago) you have to load it twice. The first time you load it, it looks to make sure you've paid for the course, and for some reason it fails. The second time you load it, it works. Sorry about that. I'll fix it when I get some free time.

OK. I think I fixed it. Try now.

When I send the survey out, it is arriving without any carriage returns in the plain text message; ie: the "form" is all on one line of text.

Does the text contain newline characters? You may need to check for these and add/convert if not there Read More...

Is there any specific reason why, when adding a new bound field, you always copy an existing field and change the source rather then using the "available fields" feature - or is it just because you got in the habit of doing it that way Read More...

This reply is probably outdated from 2015.   It is 2018. Something changed
