Copying Forms

Is it possible to duplicate forms? I have about 50 queries to show upcoming classes. I would like to have forms for each one so someone can fill the classes with students. (Our classes are pre booked months in advance). Also I want to number each student seat. 10 students per class two standbys. How can I duplicate the query forms easily and also have an sequential number to number the seats that doesnt erase a number if a student is removed. PS. All students are picked from a combo box, so not sure how to keep the record clean if I move students around in classes.

Yes you can duplicate a form.  From what you are describing though that isn't the way to go.

You don't want 50 forms to have to maintain.  You would be better off creating a search form and then using the results to open the form you are wanting to duplicate.
There are many examples in both the regular courses and the TechHelp.  If you could provide a little more detail we can point you in the right direction.

Caroline, hold off on these questions until you've completed Access Expert 15. I spend almost that whole class going over student attendance, which is very similar to what you need. You're almost there. I see you've got up to Expert 12. Just keep on learning, and your questions will be answered soon.

I will try and hold!! The reason for needing so many forms, are the classes are filled months ahead of time, so we are shuffling people around in classes often, (as they change their minds, need a different time, etc.), so I usually need 6 classes open at the same time. The form is only necessary up until the first day of class, then the student's information is processed into a permanent record. The class scheduling forms are generated from a query using two tables, the contact table and a table that stores start and end dates of the classes. Which really should be three tables, (funding source). Save that question for another time:) I'm not sure if I can post a ss or not maybe it would give you a better idea.

Yeah, you can upload a screen shot.

And yes, it is possible to open multiple instances of the same form, but that's real high-end programming stuff. I'm going to be covering it in an upcoming Developer lesson.

No wonder I could not get it to work. Thank you! I look forward to learning more as I go along the lessons.
