Quick Note About the Future of the Fitness Database
The Fitness Database series is still going strong. We have finished most of the food side, but the exercise half is still ahead, and I plan to take it online so I can track meals and workouts on my phone. I will be releasing about 2-3 parts per week instead of every day, since views naturally decline as a long series goes on. This also gives me room to mix in other Microsoft Access topics so the channel keeps growing. Post a comment and let me know your thoughts - your feedback shapes what I create next.

Intro This page is an announcement and update from Richard Rost regarding the Microsoft Access Fitness Database series. Richard discusses the current progress on the project, plans for future episodes, and scheduling changes to balance the fitness series with other Access tutorials. He also addresses viewer feedback about the depth of VBA content and the need for more beginner and intermediate videos, along with intentions to create broader topic tutorials in the future.Transcript Hi, folks. Richard Rost here, Access Learning Zone. Just wanted to give you a quick update on the fitness database series. We're up to part 28, which was released yesterday, and it's not going anywhere. I'm still going to continue working on it.
The food side is mostly built. We still have the whole exercise side to do, and I do plan on taking it online so I can use it on my phone. But I'm not sure if I'm going to include that as part of the TechHelp series or redo it as a separate seminar, because some of you have mentioned that you're not interested in that at all, and I get it.
I want to let you know I'm going to dial back the release pace of the fitness database series, probably to two or three episodes a week. The primary reason is simple. As long series go, interest naturally does decline, and views tend to trend down over time. Many more people are interested in parts one and two than part 29. So to keep the channel healthy and bring in new viewers, I do tend to mix in some fresh topics in between the fitness posts.
A few weeks ago, I sprinkled in one or two other videos around part 13 or 14, and people were like, "Hey, what happened to the fitness database?" It's not going anywhere, but I am going to put some additional videos in the middle.
Later today, for example, I'm going to be posting a video on record set clones, and then tomorrow we'll continue with fitness 29.
The fitness database series is very heavy VBA-based, and I've gotten some comments from people that are like, "Hey, I don't want to learn VBA, I don't know VBA, I'm not advanced." I am going to try and add some more videos for the beginners and intermediate users as well, because they've had nothing new for weeks. I get it.
Also, I've heard from a lot of people that they see "fitness database" and think, "I don't care about fitness." I've tried to mention it, but I know a lot of people just see the thumbnail picture and they just ignore it completely because it says "fitness," and they don't even bother listening to it where I say this isn't just about building a fitness database.
So I am going to be making some more broad tips and tutorials to sprinkle in with these videos.
I'd love your feedback. Post your comments down below. Are you enjoying this series? Do you like it? Should I continue it? Do you want to see the online stuff in here? Obviously, I shape the future of my channel based on your feedback and what the view counts say. That's what allows me to tell what you want to see.
Give me some feedback, give me some comments. Of course, hit that like, share, all that other good social media stuff, and I'll see you again in a couple hours with another video on record set clones.

Thanks.Summary Today's TechHelp tutorial from Access Learning Zone is a quick update on the ongoing fitness database series. We've reached part 28, released yesterday, and rest assured, the series is still very much alive. I plan to keep working on it and moving forward.
Most of the work on the food tracking portion is complete, but we still have the exercise section to build. I also intend to make this database accessible online so I can use it from my phone. I am considering whether to continue this as part of the regular TechHelp series or reformat it into a separate seminar. I understand that not everyone is interested in moving the database online, so I want to be thoughtful about integrating that content.
I do want to let everyone know that I'll be scaling back the release frequency for the fitness database videos, likely to around two or three per week. The reality with longer series is that viewer interest tapers off over time, and later episodes do not get as many views as the early ones. Because of this, and to help draw in new viewers, I will be posting some different types of videos in between the fitness database episodes.
A couple of weeks ago, between episodes 13 and 14, I added a few different videos, and some people wondered what happened to the fitness series. I want to assure everyone the series is not ending. I am simply interspersing new topics to keep the channel fresh.
For instance, later today, I plan to post a video on working with record set clones, and tomorrow, the next installment in the fitness database series will follow.
The fitness database series leans heavily on VBA, and I have received feedback that some viewers do not feel confident with VBA, or feel the material is too advanced. I realize that my beginner and intermediate students have been left without new content for a few weeks, so I intend to mix in more tutorials at all skill levels to balance things out.
Another comment I frequently hear is that some people see "fitness database" and assume the content is not relevant to them if they're not interested in fitness. Even though I try to clarify that these lessons cover database-building skills applicable to any topic, I know the title and thumbnails can create a barrier.
To address these points, I will be putting out more general Access tips and tutorials in between the ongoing fitness database videos.
I welcome your feedback. Please leave comments below letting me know if you are enjoying the series, if you want to see it continue, and if you are interested in the transition to online use. Your feedback and viewing patterns guide the direction of my channel.
Let me know your thoughts, like and share if you enjoy the content, and keep an eye out for the upcoming video on record set clones.
